Yeah great video indeed!
In fact I am actually going there on a business trip soon and I am also interested in some traditional dishes. I guess I will have some nights out and I want to hear some suggestion on what and where can I have a good dinner:) |

Hong Kong is a very beautiful place to be. There is no other place that I have been like HK. There is diversity in culture and plenty to do.
Beaches are abound. I would not go to the commercial beaches, but there are more off the path which provide a better experience. There are many hiking groups available to get with for hikers. I love to take the ferry across the bay to and from the island whenever the mood strikes. Every night at 8pm there is a light show from the Kowloon side. The light show consists of some pretty bad music, but the buildings on the island side are lit up in synchronization. The markets scattered throughout Wan Chi and Mong Kok are great. There is great market located in Stanley on the south west side of the island. Transportation is abound for those who love the public transportation. I like to use the MTR(metro rail). It is easy to use and clean. Buses are a bit more complicated. I would suggest going on a day trip to Lamma Island and Maccau at least once. Maccau is the place to gamble. Not much else. There is the cable car to Lantau Island where thebig budda resides. Cyclone is a unique village on the mainland. It is a slower paced setting and is a nice getaway from the busy Hong Kong lifestyle. The Peak must be approached with a ride on the Tram. The tram offers leisurely travel up the mountain with spectactular views. While the peak seems to be a disappointment because it only offers food and shopping which is not very good, there are wonderful views for pictures.
The food is a mixture of Japanese, Tai, Chineese, Middle East and Western styles. You have a variety of traditional to upscale establishments with an array of pricing. Hotel restaraunts will be the more expensive. Soho/mid levels is an area known for dining. If you walk Soho, you will find many little establishments and good food. For traditional meals, Dim Sum must be had. TST is another place for formal shopping and dining. The Penninsula and other hotels are there with access to the Space museum and cultural center. BEWARE of the people on the street peddling watches and clothes. Do not buy from these people. They bait and switch. There is no sidewalk etiquette. Everyone walks wherever they can to get totheir destination. This includes groups walking side by side down the sidewalk and not heeding way. The pace is slow and the walks are crowded, but the atmosphere is energized. |

plenty of places to eat in HK
For traditional HK style food in Central try Wellington Street, there are some established Restaurants. Yung Kee is the most famous 3 storey restaurant with a 5* reputation. Opposite the road are cheaper but equally good restaurants..... |

I had a wonderful experience in Belize. I was with a birdwatching group, so that was our focus (no snorkeling, fishing, etc.), but everywhere we went (mostly inland) the scenery was wonderful and the people were friendly and helpful. One advantage for me is that it's an English-speaking country (since it was once a British colony), although there are other languages spoken as well.
I don't know that I would spend much time in Belize City - we heard it could be a bit rough. But that could probably be said of any major city in the world.
Go & have a WONDERFUL time! |

I do not like shopping, but if you do, you will find the big dept stores and big label brands in Causeway Bay and Central on HK island and in Tsimshatsui (aka TST) on Kowloon side - especially Nathan Road (aka The Golden Mile). For markets and bargains - Temple Street and Ladies Street in Mongkok (Kowloon side). For markets on HK island the best known for souvenirs, etc is Stanley Market on the south side of the island (Bus #6 from Central or taxi - about 30 minutes depending on traffic). |

Traditional Food is Cantonese (same as the dialect spoken in Hong Kong). It is NOT one of the spicier Chinese foods. Dim Sum is a daily event you may want to try. I do not eat much Cantonese food, but I do love Mongolian BBQ and there is a great restaurant, "Nomads" in Kimberley Road Tsimshatsui (TST) almost opposite Kimberley Hotel). For seafood, a 30 minute ferry trip from Central to Lamma Island proves very popular. There are every type of food to be had in Central (and very international esp in the area called Soho and not far from the famous night spot of Lan Kwai Fong where there are plenty of bars and nightlife). |

Places to visit are numerous. The Peak is a must on a clear day - especially good on a clear night (there can be a lot of haze in Hong Kong these days). Use the Peak Tram from Central. The Big Buddha in Lantau island and the Cable Car (get in Tung Chung, Lantau Island) are also popular. If you like theme parks Ocean Park (south side HK island)is very popular (and has better rides than) Disneyland (near Sunny Bay MTR train station on Lantau Island). Disneyland is ok but is a bit small compared to other countries. Star Ferry from Central acrosss Victoria Harbour to Tsimshatsui (TST) is a "must" both day time and night time - and at 8pm most nights in Victoria Harbour there is a laser show. |
